Shining 3D EinScan Medixa — Technical data

The EinScan Medixa is a standalone handheld scanner that Shining 3D developed specifically for orthotics, prosthetics and rehabilitation. It processes data on the device and comes with ready-made scan presets for face, cranium, torso, arms, legs, feet, prosthetic sockets, seating shells and foam box impressions. White light serves for finer detail and an infrared VCSEL for large body areas that need quick capture, with a field of view of up to 1,090 × 1,260 mm. The manufacturer gives accuracy as RMS below 0.3 mm, which suits clinical fitting work but is not meant for metrology. Two replaceable batteries last about three hours.

Used units usually come from orthopaedic workshops or medical supply stores. Besides battery condition, check the camera windows and USB-C socket. It is important that the device is released from the previous account and can be transferred to the new business, including firmware updates. Hygiene matters: housing and grip should tolerate disinfection without damage. Exports go to CAD software as STL, OBJ or PLY, so a separate computer for further processing is still needed.
