Prodways ProMaker P4500 SD — Technical data

The ProMaker P4500 SD was the base model of the large laser sintering systems Prodways presented at formnext in November 2016. They were built by the Chinese manufacturer Farsoon and sold by Prodways as 'powered by Farsoon'. A 30 W CO2 laser exposes a 400 × 400 × 450 mm build volume at up to 7.6 m/s, layer thickness ranges from 0.06 to 0.3 mm, and build rate reaches 1.5 l/h at 0.12 mm layers. Eight heating zones control the powder bed temperature up to 190 °C. The sister models HS, X and HT differ in laser power and temperature range. The distribution agreement with Farsoon ended in 2020.

For a used P4500 SD, Prodways no longer offers service. Spare parts and laser service will realistically come via Farsoon, whose 403P series matches the system on its key figures; check beforehand whether a Farsoon partner will take the machine on. The 30 W source limits the build rate, and retrofitting a stronger one is a major intervention. Check laser hours, scanner, heaters and recoater as well as nitrogen supply, powder stock and sieving station. For transport and installation, plan for a system weighing several tonnes.
