Pollen AM Pam Series MC — Technical data
The Pam Series MC extends Pollen AM's pellet printing to metal and ceramics and was presented in January 2020. It processes MIM and CIM feedstocks, that is metal or ceramic powder in a polymer binder, as used in powder injection moulding. It prints a green part that is then debound and sintered. Design and data largely match the Series P HT: two extruders, chamber up to 80 °C, radiant disc up to 300 °C, bed at 150 °C or optionally 250 °C, and a cylindrical build volume of 300 × 300 mm. Its predecessor was the Series M from 2017.
Anyone buying a used Series MC also needs debinding and sintering furnaces, or a service provider, for metal and ceramic parts; the printer alone only produces green parts. Feedstocks containing metal powder are abrasive, so screws, barrels and nozzles wear faster than with plain plastic and should be inspected. It also matters which feedstocks ran last and whether parameter files exist for them. Powder residues in the build area call for care when dismantling. Clarify spare parts and software supply for this previous generation with Pollen AM in advance.
