Nikon SLM Solutions SLM HUB — Technical data

The SLM HUB is the automation station of the SLM 800 production cell from SLM Solutions, now Nikon SLM Solutions. Up to five SLM 800s can be connected; a linear axis pulls the build cylinders out of the machines and moves them to the stations: in the depowdering chamber the build plate is rotated and vibrated under inert gas, at the handling position new substrate plates are set up and finished parts removed, and in the parking chamber cylinders are preheated or cooled in a controlled way. The loosened powder returns to the central supply, and the machines are fed by vacuum. The Build Cylinder Magazine can be added as cylinder storage. On the Nikon website the HUB now only appears within the SLM 800 description.

The HUB rarely comes to market on its own, usually as part of a complete SLM 800 cell. Important points are the number and condition of build cylinders, linear axis and drives, the seals of the inert gas chambers, control software versions and the powder lines to the central supply. For a series no longer promoted, the service commitment should be in writing.
