Nikon SLM Solutions SLM 800 — Technical data
The SLM 800 builds on the footprint of the SLM 500 but extends the Z axis to 850 mm. Four 700 W lasers thus expose a 500 × 280 × 850 mm build envelope, allowing tall, slender parts such as housings, brackets or components for energy and space applications to be made in one piece. The machine is designed for automated production cells: the SLM HUB moves build cylinders between up to five machines and setup, parking and depowdering stations, while a central powder supply with two 220 l tanks feeds the cell. The SLM 800 can still be found on Nikon's website but is no longer listed in the main menu.
Used SLM 800s are often offered without the HUB. In that case, clarify how build cylinders are changed, preheated and depowdered and which additional equipment that requires. Also important: the laser power of the four sources (400 or 700 W), laser hours, the condition of Z axis and cylinders, and spare parts supply for a series that is no longer actively promoted.
