Nikon SLM Solutions SLM 250 HL — Technical data

The SLM 250 HL belongs to the HL generation with which the then SLM Solutions GmbH in Lübeck offered its selective laser melting machines around 2012. The build area measures 248 × 248 mm with up to 350 mm of Z travel; the beam source is a fibre laser of 400 or 1000 W, with focus adjustable between 70 and 250 µm. Stainless and tool steels, cobalt-chrome, superalloys, aluminium and titanium were processed, among others at research institutes. The model has been discontinued for years and no longer appears on Nikon SLM Solutions' websites; today the SLM 280 series covers a comparable size class.

When buying an SLM 250 HL, spare parts are the main question: control computer, laser, scanner and recoater are more than ten years old, and there are no more software updates. Clarify beforehand whether Nikon SLM Solutions or an independent service partner still supports the machine, which laser power is installed, and whether inert gas tightness and oxygen control work properly.
