Nikon SLM Solutions SLM 125 HL — Technical data

The SLM 125 HL is the smallest machine of the HL generation from SLM Solutions in Lübeck and the forerunner of today's SLM 125. The build envelope measures 125 × 125 × 125 mm and can be reduced to 50 × 50 × 50 mm for small powder quantities. Later units use a 400 W fibre laser, the first 2012 version 100 or 200 W. Layer thickness is 20 to 75 µm, and the build rate up to 25 cm³/h. Approved materials were stainless and tool steels, cobalt-chromium, Inconel and titanium, used mainly in research, dental technology and small-part production. Its successor is the SLM 125 without the HL suffix.

When buying, first establish the laser power, as the 100, 200 and 400 W versions differ markedly in productivity. Then check laser hours, the condition of recoater, protective glass and filter, and the documentation of the materials processed. Control and build software must run and be licensed. On site the machine needs 400 V three-phase power at 32 A, compressed air and argon or nitrogen. Ask Nikon SLM Solutions in advance whether it still supplies spare parts for the HL generation.
