Nikon SLM Solutions PFM (Permanent Filter Module) — Technical data
The Permanent Filter Module (PFM) is the process gas filtration of Nikon SLM Solutions' current machines. Instead of exchangeable filter cartridges, a gas-purged sintered plate filter collects soot and condensate from the inert gas flow; the cleaned gas returns to the process chamber. The separated residue is passivated with an inhibitor and drops into a container for dry disposal. This is meant to reduce downtime and consumable costs and make handling of combustible filter dust safer. On the SLM 280 PS, SLM 500 and SLM 800 the module is part of the equipment; for the SLM 280 2.0, sources list it as either optional or standard.
A PFM is rarely traded on its own; usually the question is whether a used machine is fitted with one. Check the condition and differential pressure of the sintered filter, the cleaning function, the supply of inhibitor and records of waste container changes.
