Nexa3D QLS 820 — Technical data
The QLS 820 is Nexa3D's large powder-bed system for series production of plastic parts. The technology comes from NXT Factory, which Nexa3D acquired in 2020; a pre-announcement under the name QLS 350 with the same key data appeared at the end of 2021, and the system went on sale in September 2022. Four 100 W CO2 lasers work in a build volume of 350 × 350 × 400 mm, with layer thicknesses of 50 to 200 µm. The manufacturer quoted up to 8 litres per hour at 20 % packing density. Exchangeable build units cool down outside the machine while the next job is already running.
Anyone looking for a used QLS 820 is buying a rare system of around 750 kg without ongoing manufacturer support, as Nexa3D ceased operations at the end of 2024. Decisive factors are the laser hours and output of all four sources, the condition of scanners, recoater and heating system, and the number of build units included. As spare parts come only from remaining stock, an experienced service partner should be found beforehand. The parameter sets for PA11, PA12 and PA6 also belong in the handover.
