MakerBot Sketch — Technical data

The MakerBot Sketch is an enclosed entry-level printer for teaching, which MakerBot sold as a package with lesson material and certification courses for teachers. It prints 1.75 mm PLA and Tough PLA on a heated, flexible plate in a 150 × 150 × 150 mm build volume. A particulate filter in the housing, a camera and Wi-Fi connection to the MakerBot cloud are meant to simplify classroom operation. Larger sibling models are the Sketch Large and the faster Sketch Sprint.

Anyone buying a used Sketch should know that it is designed for a closed ecosystem with MakerBot software and its own extruders. A working extruder, at least one undamaged build plate and removal from the school's cloud account are therefore important. The particulate filter is a consumable. As the manufacturer has moved the software to UltiMaker CloudPrint, check beforehand whether the device can be registered there. Course material and licences usually do not transfer with the sale.
