MakerBot Replicator+ — Technical data
The MakerBot Replicator+ replaced the fifth-generation Replicator in 2016 and was widespread mainly in schools and design departments. It prints 1.75 mm PLA and Tough PLA through the swappable Smart Extruder+ on a flexible, unheated plate with adhesive coating that needs no tape. The 295 × 195 × 165 mm build volume is larger than its predecessor's, and the housing is open. A built-in camera, Wi-Fi and Ethernet allow operation via MakerBot Print and the mobile app.
The Replicator+ is no longer made but is common and cheap on the used market. The central component is the Smart Extruder+, which is replaced as a whole; a spare extruder is therefore a plus. Check the plate for warping and wear of the coating, and listen to belts and guides for noise. The old MakerBot software does not always run on current systems, so clarify beforehand what will drive the printer. Spare parts now mostly come from dealer stock or third parties.
