HP Metal Jet S100D — Technical data
The HP Metal Jet S100D is the entry and development configuration of the Metal Jet platform. It consists of one printer and one build unit; green parts are cured inside the printer, so no separate curing station is needed. The effective build height is deliberately low at 40 mm on a 430 × 309 mm footprint – the configuration is meant for application and process development before a company expands to S100P or S100. Print engine, resolution and layer thicknesses match the larger packages, and 316L and 17-4PH are certified. Sintering furnace and powder handling are not part of the configuration.
A used S100D is a relatively affordable entry into metal binder jetting but needs infrastructure: without a vacuum furnace, depowdering and powder handling, no finished parts are produced. Buyers should clarify whether expansion to more build units and stations is possible, which software licences transfer, how heavily the printheads were used and whether HP service continues.
