HP Metal Jet S100 (Konfiguration S100) — Technical data
The HP Metal Jet S100 is a binder jetting system for series production of small to medium-sized stainless steel parts. Six HP Thermal Inkjet printheads on two print bars apply binder in 35 to 140 µm layers onto a metal powder bed; the parts are then cured, depowdered and sintered in a vacuum furnace. HP calls the mass-production package the “S100” configuration: two printers, six build units, two curing stations, a powder management and a powder removal station, and a high-capacity Elnik furnace. The effective build height here is 170 mm on a 430 × 309 mm footprint. 316L and 17-4PH are certified; further alloys are available via partner suppliers.
When buying a used S100 line, the whole system counts: condition and running time of the printheads, the number of build units, the function of the powder stations and the sintering furnace including process gas supply. The licences for Process Development and Digital Sintering, approved sintering profiles and whether part of the line is being sold separately also matter. A three-phase supply and enough floor space for several stations are required.
