HP Jet Fusion 5000 — Technical data

The HP Jet Fusion 5000 is the entry point to the current MJF production platform. It shares housing and print engine with the 5200 but works with a lower build volume of 380 × 284 × 250 mm (27 litres); a build takes about 8 hours in Balanced mode. HP targets prototyping and small series with up to two builds per week. Powder is handled manually as standard; the 5200 processing station can be added as an option, and an upgrade kit brings the system to 5200 level. It processes PA 11, PA 12, PA 12 S, PA 12 GB, PP and TPU01.

Used, the 5000 is attractive because the path to the 5200 remains open. Before buying, clarify whether the system ran under HP's 3DaaS usage model and what that means for transferability and consumables. Also check print hours, printhead condition, the number and condition of build units and the equipment for manual powder handling (extraction, sieving, mixing).
