ExOne S-Max Pro — Technical data

The S-Max Pro is ExOne's large sand printing system for foundries producing moulds and cores without patterns. In a 1,800 × 1,000 × 700 mm job box of 1,260 litres, a printhead with integrated quality control binds silica or specialty sand layer by layer with furan or phenolic resin; layer thickness is 0.2 to 0.5 mm and accuracy ±0.5 mm. An optional second job box swaps automatically so the machine can produce around the clock. ExOne belonged to Desktop Metal from 2021 to 2025 and is now part of ExOne Global Holdings.

At 8.6 tonnes and over ten metres long, a used S-Max Pro is an infrastructure project: foundation, exhaust of up to 600 m³/h, three-phase power and sand logistics must be in place. Check the printhead and cleaning station, recoater, mixer, job boxes and control software. Also ask for the service history, the number of build jobs and which binder–sand combinations are qualified. Service and spare parts come from ExOne.
