ExOne M-Flex — Technical data
The M-Flex is ExOne's metal binder jetting printer from 2012 onwards and replaced the older R2. In a 400 × 250 × 250 mm job box a printhead bonds metal powder with binder; the green parts are then cured, depowdered and sintered or infiltrated with bronze. Each layer takes 30 to 60 seconds, with layers from 100 µm. Materials included stainless steel, iron, bronze, tungsten, Inconel 625 and glass. The later X1 25Pro uses the same job box and is known today as the X25Pro.
Buying a used M-Flex means needing the whole process chain: curing oven, depowdering station and sintering or infiltration furnace were originally part of the package and should come along. Check printhead, binder lines, recoater, powder recycling and the control computer. It matters whether process parameters exist for the material you need. As ExOne has sold its metal business, clarify spare parts and service beforehand and plan for fine dust and explosion protection.
