EOS EOSINT P 385 — Technical data

The EOSINT P 385 is a plastic laser sintering system from EOS's P 3 series and sits chronologically between the P 380 and the P 390. According to the trade press, EOS presented it at EuroMold with new recoater mechanics and improved laser control; this allowed layers of 0.1 mm instead of the previous 0.15 mm, meant to give finer detail and smoother surfaces on small parts such as connectors. Older P 360 and P 380 machines could be upgraded to P 385 performance. Resellers cite a 50 W CO₂ laser and the series' typical build volume of around 340 × 340 × 620 mm. It processes polyamide powders such as PA 2200 as well as TPU.

A used P 385 is by now an older machine with hardly any public EOS documentation. So inspect the rating plate, manuals and wiring diagrams, and establish whether it is a factory-built P 385 or an upgraded P 380. Check the laser tube and chiller, heaters, recoater, exchangeable frames and the nitrogen supply. Spare parts, control computer and software should be secured before buying.
