EOS EOSINT M 250 Xtended — Technical data

The EOSINT M 250 Xtended is the DMLS system with which EOS introduced a new generation of its metal laser sintering machines in 2001. Unlike its successor, the EOSINT M 270, which arrived in 2004 as the first commercial DMLS system with a fibre laser, it uses a CO₂ laser rated at 240 W. According to a reseller, the build volume is 250 × 250 × 200 mm, layers start at 20 µm and exposure runs at up to 3 m/s. It mainly processed bronze-based DirectMetal powders and the tool steel DirectSteel H20; typical uses were mould inserts and prototypes in tool making. The machine has long been discontinued.

Buying an M 250 Xtended today means getting a machine for simple steel and bronze parts, training or research, not for certified series production. What matters is the condition and remaining life of the CO₂ laser, a working process computer with software, the extraction unit and the chiller. Spare parts and service are only available to a limited extent; clarify before buying who can look after the machine.
