DWS XFAB 3500 — Technical data
The XFAB 3500 is DWS's larger desktop series and, like the XFAB 2500, arrived at Formnext 2017 in SD, HD for jewellery and PD for dental lab versions. Compared with the 2500 it has a taller body, an Ethernet port and runs with Nauta+ and Fictor. The DWS brochure gives the build volume as 140 × 140 × 180 mm with chamfered corners, while dealers quote 160 × 160 × 180 mm. A BlueEdge solid-state laser exposes layers from 10 to 100 µm; the unit weighs around 40 kg and draws 160 W.
Because the build volume data conflict, ask to see the actual platform on a used unit and read the version from the rating plate. In jewellery workshops the 3500HD often ran castable resin in continuous use, which strains vats and laser. A test print with fine detail shows whether focus and power are right. For dental units, check whether medical device resins such as Temporis are still approved and available, and whether the software licence transfers to the buyer.
