DWS DigitalWax 029X — Technical data
The DigitalWax 029X is a stereolithography printer from DWS's X line, with which the company served prototyping and industry alongside jewellery from around 2014. A BlueEdge solid-state laser draws layers from 10 to 100 µm via a galvanometer scanner into a build volume of 150 × 150 × 200 mm. Besides the basic version there were the 029XJ and 029XHR variants with a 20 µm laser spot. Materials included ABS-like, PP-like, rubber-like, transparent and castable resins as well as a ceramic-filled material. The machine weighs 150 kg.
The 029X is offered used fairly often, frequently from model making and jewellery production. Before buying, what counts is which laser variant is fitted and how many hours the laser has run; replacing it is costly. The supplied external PC often runs an older Windows, and the software licences should be transferable. As the 029X is no longer in the range, ask DWS or the dealer how long spare parts will be available rather than assuming. Vat and platform are wear parts.
