DWS DigitalWax 029J Plus — Technical data

The DigitalWax 029J Plus belongs to the J series with which DWS made its name among jewellery makers. It prints burnout patterns in castable resin for investment casting of rings, pendants and settings. Compared with the 029J, the build platform grew to 150 × 150 mm with 100 mm build height, and the BlueEdge BE-1800A laser scans at up to 5,000 mm/s. Layer thickness ranges from 10 to 100 µm; an HR version with a finer laser was available. The unit is 1.40 m tall and weighs 150 kg.

Used 029J Plus printers are common in jewellery workshops and appear regularly on the market. As the series is older, the laser comes first: hours, output and whether it has already been replaced. Control runs through a dedicated controller and an often elderly Windows PC, which should be included. Resins for the J series have partly been replaced by newer formulations; which castable resins the unit processes today should be clarified with DWS or a dealer.
