DWS DigitalWax 028J Plus — Technical data
The DigitalWax 028J Plus is the compact benchtop printer of DWS's J series and was the first machine for printed casting patterns in many goldsmiths and smaller jewellery businesses. The build volume measures 90 × 90 × 90 mm and takes a handful of rings per job; according to aniwaa up to 80 models a day are possible. A BlueEdge laser with a 22 µm spot, 17 µm in the HR version, draws via a galvanometer at up to 2,200 mm/s. Layers range from 10 to 100 µm and the unit weighs 56 kg.
The 028J Plus is one of the DWS machines most frequently offered used. Given its age, look at the laser hours and ask for a test print with fine structures to judge focus and power. The vat is heavily strained by castable resin and should be clear. Older control PCs often run Windows versions that are no longer supported, which matters for networking and updates. Ask DWS or the dealer about spare parts and current castable resins before buying.
