Desktop Metal Shop System 16L — Technical data
The Shop System 16L is the largest version of Desktop Metal's binder jetting machine: 350 × 222 × 200 mm, around 16 litres of build volume. The full build height allows tall parts or many small parts stacked in several layers. According to Desktop Metal, builds average 6 to 12 hours depending on parts and layer thickness, so a new job can start every shift. Printhead, 1,600 dpi resolution and layer thicknesses are shared with the 4L, 8L and 12L. A full build box ties up correspondingly more powder, however, which favours a smaller version for mostly flat parts. Materials: stainless steels, cobalt-chrome and IN625.
Used, the 16L offers the most headroom but needs the largest powder stock. Check the printhead and nozzle dropouts, completeness of the peripherals and the Live Sinter licence. Since binder – and, depending on the package, powder – must come from Desktop Metal, a supply commitment from Arc Impact should be in place.
