Desktop Metal Fiber LT — Technical data
The Fiber LT is the version of Desktop Metal's composite printer for PA6-based engineering plastics. Like the Fiber HT it combines filament printing with miniaturised fibre placement (Micro-AFP), laying continuous carbon or glass fibre into the matrix via a tool changer; the build volume is 310 × 240 × 270 mm. The matrix is carbon- or glass-filled PA6, with the carbon version being ESD-safe. Desktop Metal states porosity below 5 %. Applications include strong, non-marring fixtures, grippers and functional parts on the shop floor. The Fiber range has been discontinued and technical documents are no longer published.
The Fiber LT was also sold only on a subscription basis, so proof of ownership is essential when buying used. Also clarify whether the slicer and machine software remain usable after the subscription ends. Technically, check the tool heads, fibre cutter and guidance. PA6 absorbs moisture, so any remaining material should be stored dry. Future supply of the proprietary fibre tapes is uncertain.
