Desktop Metal Fiber HT — Technical data

The Fiber HT was Desktop Metal's high-temperature composite printer. It combines filament printing with miniaturised automated fibre placement (Micro-AFP): a tool changer with up to four tools lays continuous carbon or glass fibre tapes into a PEEK or PEKK matrix at up to 60 % fibre volume. The build volume is 310 × 240 × 270 mm. The HT version targeted low-porosity, flame-retardant, ESD-safe parts for service temperatures up to 250 °C, such as fixtures and lightweight components. Its sibling, the Fiber LT, works with PA6. Desktop Metal no longer offers the Fiber range, and no data sheet is available.

The Fiber was sold only by subscription with a multi-year minimum term. For a used unit, first clarify whether the seller actually owns it and whether software and print preparation work at all without a subscription. Then check the tools and heating system and the supply of the special fibre and matrix materials, which is hardly secured now that the range has ended.

1 · Buy

Matching used machines for this material and build volume.

2 · Let us search

Nothing suitable? We will search for you – or get an e-mail as soon as a matching machine comes in.

3 · Have parts printed

Not worth your own machine? We produce your parts – request from the LayerByLayer 3D printing service.

Buy or have it printed? For small or changing quantities, having parts printed is often cheaper than your own machine. If you regularly fill many build jobs, your own machine pays off.
