Concept Laser M3 linear — Technical data

Concept Laser's M3 linear is an older laser melting system that combines building from metal powder with other laser processes: according to trade press it can also perform laser erosion and laser marking. Linear direct drives move the optics, and the beam source is a 200 or 400 W fibre laser. The build envelope is given as 350 × 350 × 300 mm, the layer thickness as 20 to 80 µm. Target sectors were tool making, aerospace, automotive, dental and jewellery, processing steels, Inconel 718 and cobalt-chromium. The machine is discontinued and no longer listed by Colibrium Additive.

Today an M3 linear mainly makes sense for buyers looking for affordable build volume or wanting to use the additional functions. Given its age, spare parts, control computer and software are the main issues: clarify beforehand whether laser, scanner and linear drives can still be sourced and who provides service. Also check laser hours, process chamber tightness, filter condition and complete documentation. At about 2.3 t plus additional components and with a three-phase connection, the machine needs a well-prepared site.
