Concept Laser M1 cusing — Technical data
The M1 cusing was the laser melting system from Concept Laser in Lichtenfels that became popular above all in tool and mould making. A 200 W fibre laser works in a 250 × 250 × 250 mm build envelope with layer thicknesses of 20 to 80 µm; the earlier version of the M1 offered only 150 × 150 × 200 mm. Typical applications are tool inserts with conformal cooling in hot-work steel as well as parts in stainless steel and Inconel. Powder is conveyed semi-automatically, and setup and part removal take place at a separate handling station. The machine is discontinued; Concept Laser, today Colibrium Additive, no longer offers it.
Used M1 systems usually come from tool shops and are often more than ten years old. Key points are the operating hours of the laser source, the condition of scanner, protective glass and filter, and whether the control computer and software still run. As the manufacturer no longer sells the machine, clarify in advance who supplies service and spare parts. Included powder, a sieving station or a nitrogen generator add value; after material changes, documented cleaning is part of the deal.
