CEAD Flexbot — Technical data

The Flexbot is the robot-based printing cell from Dutch manufacturer CEAD in Delft and was initially sold as the AM Flexbot. A Comau industrial robot guides a pellet extruder that melts plastic granulate directly and lays it down in wide beads. A Siemens Sinumerik CNC also controls the robot itself. CEAD offers the cell as Research, Research XL and Industry, with build platforms from 2,000 × 1,000 to 4,000 × 2,000 mm. Depending on the extruder, 12 to 84 kg of material per hour are possible, including glass- and carbon-fibre-reinforced grades up to PEEK.

Used, a Flexbot is more an installation than a single machine: robot, extruder, table, dryer, conveying system and safety fence belong together and should be handed over complete. Key points are the robot's operating hours and service records, the condition of screw, barrel and heater bands in the extruder, and which extruder type is fitted. Depending on the version the cell needs around 8 × 7 m of floor space plus clearance. Also clarify whether Sinumerik licences and slicer can be transferred and whether CEAD will support relocation and recalibration.

1 · Buy

2 · Let us search

Nothing suitable? We will search for you – or get an e-mail as soon as a matching machine comes in.

3 · Have parts printed

Not worth your own machine? We produce your parts – request from the LayerByLayer 3D printing service.

Buy or have it printed? For small or changing quantities, having parts printed is often cheaper than your own machine. If you regularly fill many build jobs, your own machine pays off.
