Carbon M2 — Technical data

Carbon presented the M2 in March 2017 together with the Smart Part Washer; it doubled the build area of the M1 within the same housing size. The build volume is 189 × 118 × 326 mm with a pixel size of 75 µm, and layers can be run at 25, 50 or 100 µm. Carbon states an accuracy of up to ±70 µm plus 1 µm per millimetre. Like all Carbon printers it uses DLS, i.e. continuous DLP exposure through an oxygen-permeable window. The M2 is still in the range, alongside the faster M3 with the same build volume since 2022.

Used M2s that can be freely traded are rare, because Carbon provides the machine on subscription, including software, updates roughly every eight weeks and maintenance. Before any purchase, establish who owns the unit and whether Carbon will transfer it to a new operator; operation without a cloud connection via Ethernet is not intended. Check the cassettes and windows, the automatic platform latch, the exhaust and any additional hardware for RPU 130 or EPU 41. The dental variant M2d with half the build area should be recognised as such.
