BigRep EDGE — Technical data
The BigRep EDGE was presented at Formnext 2018 as a high-temperature machine alongside the PRO. It offers a 1,500 × 800 × 600 mm build volume in a chamber heated to up to 200 °C, while the print bed reaches 220 °C. Two MXT extruders, developed together with Bosch Rexroth, separate filament feeding, melting and extrusion; the CNC motion control also comes from Bosch Rexroth. It was aimed at end-use parts, functional prototypes and composite tooling in engineering and high-performance plastics. At around 3.5 tonnes and over 3 m long, the EDGE is an industrial installation; BigRep no longer lists it.
Used EDGE systems are likely to be rare, as only a few were built. Before buying, clarify whether BigRep or a partner still supplies service and spare parts for the MXT extruders, chamber heating and Rexroth control. The system requires a three-phase supply of 3 × 32 A, a load-bearing foundation and crane or forklift logistics. Heating elements, door mechanism and chamber insulation are stressed by sustained high temperatures and should be inspected, as should approvals for high-performance materials.
