BCN3D Smart Cabinet — Technical data

The BCN3D Smart Cabinet is a mobile base cabinet for the Epsilon printers and the Sigma D25, available since spring 2021. It serves three purposes: it stores filament under humidity control below 40 % relative humidity using an alumina dryer without heating; it powers the printer through a 1 kVA online UPS, so outages of up to ten minutes are bridged without aborting the job; and it acts as a workstation with tool drawer and shelf. Depending on spool size it holds six Spool Cartridges, ten small or four 2.5 kg spools; filament runs directly from the cabinet into the printer. For new sales, the Epsilon is often sold as an SC bundle with the cabinet.

Used, the Smart Cabinet is mainly worthwhile for users of hygroscopic materials such as PA, PVA or fibre-filled filaments. The condition of the UPS batteries, which degrade after a few years, is decisive; a load test or the battery age should be known. Also check the drying cycle, humidity display and castors. At 85 kg, shipping on a pallet is usual. The cabinet is not intended for Omega printers.
