Artec Spider II — Technical data

Since September 2024 the Artec Spider II has been Artec's handheld precision scanner for small to medium-sized parts, replacing the Space Spider. It still works with blue LED structured light but doubles the capture volume to 1,800 cm³ and records up to 30 frames or 8 million points per second. Accuracy and resolution are each up to 0.05 mm, and a 5 MP camera with colour-accurate LED lighting provides the texture. It connects via Thunderbolt 4. Applications include reverse engineering, inspection of small components, medical technology and cultural heritage.

Used Spider II units are still young and usually in good condition; the key factor is the remaining warranty, which Artec states as two years. The computer needs Thunderbolt 4 and a current Nvidia graphics card; older scanning PCs are often not enough. According to Artec, Artec Studio licences are not transferable, so any subscription ends with the sale. To move the device to the buyer, the seller has to confirm the sale to Artec.
