Artec Space Spider — Technical data

The Artec Space Spider is the further development of the Spider introduced in 2015 and was for a long time Artec's standard scanner for small precision parts. It uses blue-light structured projection, works from 20 to 30 cm away and achieves point accuracy of up to 0.05 mm at 0.1 mm resolution, with a colour camera for texture. Artec also used it in the automated RoboticScan system and together with its turntable. Its successor is the 2024 Spider II with a larger capture volume and higher data rate.

Space Spiders are often sold off by engineering departments and labs, often together with the turntable. For the buyer, what matters is whether a calibration report exists and how the unit was stored, as drops can misalign the optics. According to Artec, Artec Studio licences stay with the seller; the scanner is only re-registered after the seller confirms the sale. Since the unit runs over USB 2.0 and relies on a powerful Windows PC, make sure the computer matches the data load.
