Artec Point II — Technical data
Since August 2026 the Artec Point II has been Artec's handheld metrology laser scanner, following the Point. With the same certified accuracy of 0.02 mm it doubles the data rate to up to 5.8 million measurements per second: in fast mode it projects 54 blue laser lines, in fine mode 17 parallel lines, and a single line for holes and undercuts. The field of view reaches 700 × 600 mm with 550 mm depth of field; the housing weighs 570 g and is dust-protected to IP50. Acceptance testing follows VDI/VDE 2634 and JJF 1951 in an accredited lab. Target users are quality assurance and tool and mould making.
Used Point II units will be rare for now and are more likely to come from demo stock or returned project units. Important are the proof of purchase and remaining warranty, the supplied test certificate and the calibration plate and targets. According to Artec, Artec Studio licences are not transferable, and re-registering the scanner requires the seller's confirmation. Anyone wanting to use Geomagic Control X or PolyWorks for inspection reports needs their own licences; their transferability is governed by the respective vendor.
