Artec Leo — Technical data
The Artec Leo is a wireless handheld scanner with built-in computer, touchscreen and battery: it reconstructs the data while scanning and needs no laptop to do so. With a working distance of 0.35 to 1.2 m and a field of view of up to 838 × 488 mm it is designed for medium to large objects such as vehicles, machine parts, people or interiors. Point accuracy is up to 0.1 mm, and it captures up to 22 frames per second with colour texture. Artec introduced the Leo in 2018 and revised it in 2022 with a faster processor, more storage and temperature control.
Anyone buying a used Leo should first establish whether it is the 2022 version or an older unit with a Jetson TX1 processor. Battery and touchscreen condition and signs of drops are the typical weak points of a 2.6 kg handheld device. Artec Studio is still needed for post-processing, and according to Artec its licence does not pass to the buyer; the device itself is re-registered once the seller confirms. A run with the calibration kit is part of the inspection.
