Artec L — Technical data

The Artec L was the large-field scanner of Artec's first generation of handheld scanners, intended for objects too large for the MHT, such as vehicles, furniture, figures or building elements. Its field of view ranges from 598 × 459 mm at close range to 1,196 × 918 mm at far range, and resolution is up to 1.0 mm. Like the MHT it captures up to 15 frames per second and connects via USB to a computer on which Artec Studio assembles the frames. An official data sheet is no longer available. Its role for medium to large objects was later taken over by the Eva and Leo.

When buying an Artec L, the main question is whether it can still be run with current hardware and software at all. Ask which Artec Studio version it last ran with, and bear in mind that, according to Artec, licences are not transferable. Because of the large fields of view, detail is limited; a test scan shows whether it is enough for the intended purpose. Spare parts and service are practically no longer available.
