Artec 3D Point — Technical data

The Artec Point was Artec's first handheld laser scanner and came onto the market in September 2024. Unlike the structured-light handheld scanners it projects blue laser lines and thereby reaches metrology-grade accuracy: point accuracy up to 0.02 mm and volumetric accuracy of 0.015 mm + 0.035 mm/m, accredited to VDI/VDE 2634. Three modes cover large surfaces, fine details and deep holes. At 570 g it is light enough for long measurement series. Applications include first article inspection, toolmaking and reverse engineering. In August 2026 it was replaced by the Point II.

The case for buying a used Point is the price gap to its successor, as accuracy is the same. The inspection report is decisive: a current acceptance or calibration certificate to VDI/VDE 2634 should be available, otherwise budget for a new acceptance test. Check the laser windows for scratches and ask whether the calibration plate and targets are included. According to Artec, Artec Studio licences stay with the seller, and assigning the device to the buyer's account requires the seller's confirmation.
