AM Solutions S1 Wet — Technical data

The S1 Wet came out at Formnext 2021 and is AM Solutions' wet blasting unit, developed mainly for printed metal parts. Instead of dry media, a mixture of blasting media and water is accelerated by compressed air. This creates no dust, so according to the manufacturer no ATEX measures are needed. The unit removes residual powder, smooths the rough printed surface and also reaches internal channels. Parts up to Ø 400 × 500 mm stand on a motorised turntable or lie in a basket of 5 to 30 litres, and a gantry axis guides the nozzle. Media and process water are reprocessed and reused.

For a used unit much depends on the water circuit: check the pump, concentration control and treatment for deposits and wear, because the media slurry is highly abrasive. Nozzle, turntable and gantry guides suffer from it as well. You need a water connection with 2.5 to 4 bar, compressed air at 7 bar and 400 V. With metal powders, find out how sludge and waste water have been disposed of so far. Anyone wanting to process reactive alloys should ask the manufacturer for approval, as Rösler says nothing explicit about this.
