AM Solutions S1 — Technical data

The S1 is AM Solutions' automatic blasting unit for polymer parts from the powder bed. The parts sit in a drum basket that rotates during blasting, while two swivelling nozzles remove residual powder and even out the surface at the same time. Depending on size the basket holds 2 to 25 litres, and single parts up to 400 × 350 × 250 mm can also be blasted by hand. Up to 30 programmes can be stored. The unit is ATEX compliant and according to the manufacturer also handles parts that have already been depowdered, but only from non-reactive alloys. It weighs about 1,450 kg and needs 400 V and 102 m³/h of compressed air.

For a used unit the infrastructure must be right first: a 32 A connection and a compressor that can supply the air volume continuously. Check the cabinet's PU wear lining, nozzles, basket and blast hoses for abrasion, as well as the filter unit. ATEX compliance depends on earthing, intact seals and tested extraction; documents for this should be available. Stored programmes show which materials and media have been used.
