Additive Industries MetalFab 420K — Technical data

The MetalFab 420K is the newest system from Additive Industries. It was presented in November 2025 after a US space company had used it in a six-month beta test; deliveries are announced from the second quarter of 2026. Compared with the G2, four 1 kW lasers work here, with a beam diameter adjustable from 100 to 500 µm. The build field stays at 420 × 420 × 400 mm, and layer thickness ranges from 30 to 180 µm. As with the G2, configurations go up to Dual Core Continuous Production with a storage module for up to eight jobs.

As the system has only just started shipping, used units will be rare for now. An offer should clearly state year of manufacture, software version and configuration. Because of the higher laser power, cooling, filter system and protective windows deserve particular attention; the beam measurement log shows whether focus and overlap are correct. Some materials have dedicated 420K parameter sets, and their transfer must be settled. At 3.9 m wide in the Core layout, with 3 × 63 A and compressed air, installation is demanding; clarify warranty and service contract with Additive Industries.

1 · Buy

Matching used machines for this material and build volume.

2 · Let us search

Nothing suitable? We will search for you – or get an e-mail as soon as a matching machine comes in.

3 · Have parts printed

Not worth your own machine? We produce your parts – request from the LayerByLayer 3D printing service.

Buy or have it printed? For small or changing quantities, having parts printed is often cheaper than your own machine. If you regularly fill many build jobs, your own machine pays off.
