3D Systems Sinterstation Vanguard HS — Technical data
The Vanguard HS is the throughput-oriented sibling of the Vanguard. 3D Systems' site preparation guide from October 2001 describes both together – the same process station of about 1.7 t and the same power and nitrogen requirements. The available manufacturer documents do not state exactly what the HS equipment consists of; CO₂ lasers of 25, 50 or 100 W are listed for the family, and a reseller gives a 370 × 320 × 445 mm build volume and up to 10 m/s for an HS. In its annual report for 2003, 3D Systems listed the Vanguard and Vanguard HS as its current SLS systems. The HiQ upgrade turns a Vanguard HS into a HiQ+HS.
Compared with the base model, the HS pays off when the machine is fully utilised – provided the HS equipment is really fitted. Have the laser power measured and the rating plate checked, and find out whether the HiQ upgrade is installed. A 2007 study found that it reduces build time and operator effort and improves surface finish, but that DuraForm PA mechanical properties drop with default parameters, so verify parameters with test parts. Plan nitrogen, chiller and 240 V three-phase power as for the Vanguard.
