3D Systems Sinterstation 2500plus — Technical data

The Sinterstation 2500plus is a laser sintering system from SLS pioneer DTM, which 3D Systems later acquired; it was announced in 1998. Compared with its predecessor, the Sinterstation 2500, it offered a build chamber about 10 % larger on a 10 % smaller footprint, CO₂ lasers of 50 or 100 W for faster scanning, and improved temperature control of chamber and laser module. It processed plastic, metal and ceramic powders; the 2004 guide from 3D Systems names DuraForm PA and GF, CastForm PS, Somos 201 and LaserForm A6, among others. The system has long been discontinued.

Today a 2500plus mainly appeals to users who already know this generation and can maintain it themselves. Clarify laser power (50 or 100 W), nitrogen supply, cooling and the state of the control PC. Check beforehand whether spare parts are still available from the manufacturer or only from independent service providers. Whether suitable powders and parameters are available also decides usability; manuals and working software must be included.
