3D Systems Sinterstation 2500 — Technical data

The Sinterstation 2500 is an early laser sintering system from DTM, the SLS pioneer that 3D Systems later acquired. It is the direct predecessor of the Sinterstation 2500plus, which followed in 1998 with a build chamber about 10 % larger, a smaller footprint and stronger lasers. Like all Sinterstations it fuses plastic or metal powder layer by layer with a CO₂ laser in a heated powder bed, without support structures. Reliable figures for build volume and laser power are no longer available; the system has been discontinued for many years.

If a 2500 is offered, first make sure it is not actually a 2500plus, since chamber and laser differ. After that, the maintenance state decides: laser, scanner, heaters and controls should demonstrably work, otherwise the machine is more of a parts donor. Manuals, control PC and software must be included; 3D Systems' 2004 SLS guide still covers the 2500. Also check which powders can still be obtained for the machine.
