3D Systems ProX DMP 300 — Technical data

The ProX DMP 300 was the large machine of the first ProX DMP generation. A 500 W fibre laser builds parts up to 250 × 250 × 330 mm, and unlike the smaller models it has integrated, automatic powder handling for loading and recycling. Each powder layer is spread with a roller. Approved materials were cobalt-chrome, 17-4PH stainless steel, maraging steel for tooling inserts and the aluminium alloy AlSi12. At around five tonnes and 2.4 m high it is a heavy industrial machine operating under nitrogen or argon.

On a used ProX DMP 300 the automatic powder system is an extra checkpoint alongside laser, optics and filter: conveying paths, sieves and seals should be serviced and tight. Maintenance logs, laser hours and whether 3D Systems still supplies spare parts are important. Transport and installation require a crane or heavy-lift equipment, 400 V/15 kVA, inert gas and space for the chiller.
