3D Systems ProJet HD 3000 Plus — Technical data

The ProJet HD 3000 Plus adds a third print mode to the HD 3000. Besides HD (298 × 185 × 203 mm, 40 µm) and UHD (32 µm) there is XHD at 656 × 656 × 1600 dpi and 16 µm layers; in UHD and XHD a larger area of 203 × 178 × 152 mm is available than on the base model. It prints VisiJet EX200, SR200 and HR200 plastics, supported by wax (S100) that is melted out after printing. The printer targeted design offices, model makers and medical technology users who needed fine surfaces without a laser process. The platform is discontinued.

When buying an HD 3000 Plus, print head hours and the nozzle pattern matter most, followed by the condition of the UV lamp and the wiper station. Material and print head are the bottlenecks of this generation, so check origin and shelf life of any cartridges supplied. Removing the wax requires an oven such as the ProJet Finisher – if it is not included, budget for one. The control software is designed for older Windows versions, so a matching PC should ideally be part of the package.
