3D Systems ProJet CPX 3000 — Technical data

The ProJet CPX 3000 is an all-wax printer introduced by 3D Systems in 2008 for investment casting patterns in jewellery, medical technology and engineering. Both build and support material are wax (VisiJet CPX200 and S200); the support wax is dissolved after printing and the pattern goes straight into casting. HD mode offers 298 × 185 × 203 mm, XHD mode 127 × 178 × 152 mm at 16 µm layers. 3D Systems stated an accuracy of 0.025–0.05 mm per 25.4 mm. Stacking and nesting parts allows long unattended jobs. The CPX 3000 Plus followed at the end of 2010; the machine is discontinued.

With used wax printers, pay particular attention to the print head and to the availability of CPX200 wax, without which the printer cannot work. A test print followed by burnout shows whether dimensional accuracy and surface are good enough for your own casting. Check the age and storage of any material supplied, and whether the client software runs on an available Windows PC.
