3D Systems EXT 220 MED — Technical data

The EXT 220 MED, formerly known as the Kumovis R1, is a 3D Systems filament printer for medical high-performance polymers. It processes PEEK, PEKK, PPSU and resorbable polymers into patient-specific implants, surgical instruments and devices. To do so it heats the chamber to up to 250 °C and the nozzle to up to 500 °C; HEPA filtration in the build chamber meets ISO 14644 Class 7, so the system can run in a cleanroom. According to the product page, the cylindrical build volume measures Ø 180 × 150 mm, driven by delta kinematics.

For a used purchase, documentation matters as much as the hardware: validation and maintenance records, filter changes and calibration logs determine whether the system can continue in a regulated environment. Also check hotend and nozzles, chamber heating and the condition of the HEPA filters. The machine needs 400 V three-phase and compressed air. Whether medical materials and process parameters transfer with the system belongs in the contract.
